Adega Mayor
Estrada Nacional 371 Herdade das Argamassas, Campo Maior 7370-201 Portugal
>, Rui Nabeiro had a dream and the work was born. Based on the know-how of a vast team, Comendador Rui Nabeiro made real and exceeded his dream. And therefore, Campo Maior, a land that only provides for those who love it, once again reveals all its splendour. Evidencing this is a legendary tradition, a unique winery and a taste that comes from the age of times. Campo Maior, formerly a wine production village, once again allows for the vine roots to drink its essence and grow the best grapes. Form and flavours come later, when the grapes receive all the care and attention that only experience and knowledge from a well-prepared and qualified team can provide. The Winery In the beautiful and untouched landscape of the Alentejo plain in Campo Maior, Siza Vieira erected an original building, a horizontal construction, painted in white and divided in two floors longwise, with a third floor intended for tourism and promotion of the Adega Mayor wines. The calmness arising from this simple construction contrasts with the complexity housed within, where monumental areas intended for production and storage go hand in hand with the social areas, designed for tasting and enjoying the wine. The 40*120 m rectangle of the winery is founded on the existing cavity and 9m walls stand tall from there. Access to the building is located at the southwest end. The architect Siza Vieira reserved the upper floor for the social and public aspect of wine. There, a tasting room was created, opening into a panoramic terrace with a lawn and a lake, headed by a sculpted marble panel, also designed by the architect, where the silhouettes of a coffee cup, a glass of wine and a bottle overlap. This panoramic terrace provides a view over the estate's vineyard and the olive grove, extending further to Spain and the Serra de Portalegre. Enotourism Come experience a larger and see firsthand how we design the wines from Adega Mayor. We have a wide offer of activities such as hiking, mountain biking, evidence of orientation, experiences vintage, team building activities, balloon flights, boat trips on the Caia Dam. These are some of the experiences that we provide. We will be happy to design a unique and personalized experience, if so desired.

Capela dos Ossos
Largo Dr. Regala, Campo Maior 7370-047 Portugal
The Chapel of Bones in Campo Maior is one of the most significant and original examples of Christian funerary art in Portugal, due to its unique aesthetics. Little is known about the construction of the Chapel of Bones itself, which was probably promoted by the Confraternity of Souls of Campo Maior around 1766. This chapel is deeply linked to an unavoidable historical episode: the explosion of the castle's armoury due to a lightning strike, after which half the town was destroyed, with 316 dead and around 2,000 injured according to local records. Popular legend has it that the chapel was decorated with the bones of the dead from that explosion. The restoration process and the anthropological and archaeological study revealed that the bones inside the chapel show no signs of violent impact, which means that this legend has no sustainable basis.

Located in Largo do Barata, in the Casa do Assento, the renovated Open Museum shows the extraordinary history of this municipality and its people, from prehistoric times to the present day, without forgetting the permanent connection to Spain. Divided into various spaces and with an eminently ethnographic character, the Open Museum also allows visitors to take a trip back in time to learn about the houses, professions, clothing and habits and traditions of the people of Campo Maior. This museum was recently enriched with the opening of the People's Festivities Interpretive Centre - Casa das Flores.

Lagar Museu do Palacio Visconde d'Oliva
Rua de Olivenca, Campo Maior 7370-118 Portugal
Olive-growing and the production of olive oil have had a prominent place in the town of Campo Maior since ancient times. In this context, the Lagar-Museu do Palácio Visconde d'Olivã is a space that illustrates one of the oldest technologies linked to agriculture, a dominant activity in Campo Maior's economy until the mid-20th century. Structured to function as a single space, the museum nevertheless has different areas. Starting at the centre, where an olive oil mill and all its workings are recreated, visitors also have access to a multimedia room, an ethnography area and temporary exhibitions.
